We were so excited to have Dr. Jeff Parker from Southside Baptist Church visit our RIF book distribution. On March 6, 2010, Southside Baptist Church and Pinelake Baptist Church will send over 80 volunteers for a fun day to plant trees and work in the school gardens. March RIF/ Students Celebrate Black History Month

Van Winkle students participated in RIF (Reading is Fundamental) today. Students enjoyed selecting a book of their choice and claiming it as their own. Van Winkle is so very fortunate to have The Junior League of Jackson to sponsor RIF by contributing 25% of the money needed to provide the books to all children, three to four times a year. THANKS, JR. LEAGUE!!! Mrs. Land encouraged the students to write Thank You notes that will be given to The Junior League volunteers in April, when the students have their last RIF distribution. We were very excited to have two members of the Junior League join us for the distribution.
